Job summary

Berry Recruitment is recruiting for a Domestic Assistant at Southampton General Hospital. Role starts at the end of August 2026, with shifts Mon–Fri 7-2pm, providing domestic cleaning to patients and staff within the Trust.

You will clean to hygienic standards, manage waste, and support infection control while complying with Health and Safety policies. The role requires flexible team participation and SOP adherence, with training provided.

Qualifications

• General cleaning duties in a hospital environment.
• Health & safety compliance and infection control basics.
• Must complete mandatory training and safety modules.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing shift patterns.

Responsibilities

• Present a domestic cleaning service to patients and staff within the Trust.
• Clean to hygienic standards following SOPs and procedures.
• Clean floors, surfaces, furnishings and equipment manually or with machines.
• Dispose of clinical and domestic waste safely and correctly.
• Ensure equipment and materials are hygienic and report shortages or faults.
• Maintain high personal hygiene and infection control standards.
• Work as a full team member and cover others as needed across hospital areas.
• Undertake ad hoc duties as prescribed by manager.
