Main duties of the job

As a Hospice Nurse, you'll lead by example in delivering high-quality, holistic care within our welcoming inpatient unit. You'll provide vital support not just to patients, but to families and colleagues helping to create an environment of trust, peace, and compassion.

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct thorough nursing assessments and develop tailored care plans
  • Manage shifts effectively, including patient admissions and discharges
  • Administer medication and manage symptoms to ensure comfort
  • Offer emotional support and gentle guidance to patients and families
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, pharmacists, therapists, and trained volunteers
  • Advocate respectfully for patients individual needs and preferences
  • Support families through grief and loss, offering education and compassionate care

Hospice Nurse

Job Purpose

Plan and deliver patient-centred care, working closely with patients and their families.

Once trained, act as the shift coordinator, overseeing high-quality team nursing care

and coordinating wider team care that puts patients' at the heart of what we do.

Act as the key worker for a designated caseload, showing nursing leadership by

providing care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
