The Role

This established Midlands‑based trade nursery is entering an exciting new chapter, with real growth opportunities and significantly increase production capacity and market presence.

This brand‑new Business Development Manager role has been created to lead the commercial charge.

Historically driven by product quality and long‑standing customer loyalty, the business is now ready to introduce a proactive, structured approach to sales and customer development. You'll be responsible for driving new business, nurturing existing accounts, and turning passive demand into sustained commercial growth.

This is a hands‑on, relationship‑led role, ideal for someone who understands the horticultural trade and thrives on building something with real momentum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively growing the customer base
  • Building strong relationships with landscapers, contractors and garden designers
  • Opening new trade accounts and increasing spend from existing customers
  • Following up inbound leads and converting them into active trade accounts
  • Creating and executing a structured sales plan to increase customer numbers and average order values
  • Delivering a premium, consultative service, including bespoke product sourcing for key clients
  • Representing the business at trade shows, networking events and customer meetings
  • Working closely with the Managing Director and wider team to align commercial growth with operations and production
  • Helping shape the commercial direction of the business as it scales
