Job summary

Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) is seeking an Apprentice Gardener to assist in the skilled care, maintenance and development of turf and horticultural features within CWGC cemeteries and memorial, under guidance from the Head Gardener. Duties include turf culture, pruning, soil management, planting, pest control, machinery operation and maintenance, tree care, and care of ornamental features.

Training through Level 2 Horticulture Apprenticeship is provided.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English Level 4 desired.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weathers.
• Willingness to complete Level 2 Horticulture Apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Assist in turf culture, pruning, soil management and planting.
• Pest control, machinery operation and maintenance, tree care.
• Provide information to cemetery visitors and assist regional teams.
