Job summary

French Selection (FS) in Manchester seeks a Homeware Textile Designer to craft textile collections for major UK retailers, develop trend-led prints and colour stories, and produce artwork with Illustrator and Photoshop.

You’ll collaborate across teams and liaise with UK retailers and overseas suppliers, managing multiple projects to tight deadlines in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in textile design for homeware or fashion industries.
• Strong print and pattern design background.
• Knowledge of dobby, jacquard or textile printing is beneficial.
• Experience designing for retailers in the UK or internationally.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop textile collections for major UK retailers.
• Create trend-led prints, patterns, colourways and artwork.
• Use Illustrator and Photoshop to develop designs and technical artwork.
• Work with print, dobby, jacquard and other textile techniques.
• Research fashion, lifestyle, interior and retail trends.
• Develop seasonal concepts, mood boards and colour stories.
• Prepare artwork, specifications and design packs for suppliers.
• Review strike-offs, lab dips and samples.
• Collaborate with product development, buying and technical teams.
• Liaise with UK retailers and overseas suppliers.
• Manage multiple design projects and deadlines.
• Coordinate product samples and testing.

Location: Manchester

Hybrid work: 3 days in the office and 2 days from home

Salary: £30,000-£35,000 per annum

The Company

A fast-growing international design and manufacturing business specialising in the development and supply of private-label products to major UK high-street, supermarket and fashion-led retailers.

The Role

• Design and develop textile collections for major UK retailers
• Create trend-led prints, patterns, colourways and artwork
• Use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to develop designs and technical artwork
• Work with print, dobby, jacquard and other textile techniques
• Research fashion, lifestyle, interior and retail trends
• Develop seasonal concepts, mood boards and colour stories
• Prepare artwork, specifications and design packs for suppliers
• Review strike-offs, lab dips and samples
• Work closely with product development, buying and technical teams
• Liaise with UK retailers and overseas suppliers
• Manage multiple design projects and deadlines
• Organise and coordinate product samples
• Work closely with UK and international design teams

The Candidate

• Experience in textile design, fashion design or homeware design
• Strong print and pattern design background
• Knowledge of dobby, jacquard and textile printing
• Experience designing for high-street, supermarket or international retailers
• Fashion-led retail or homeware experience highly desirable
• Strong understanding of colour, pattern, trends and commercial design
• Excellent Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills
• Good understanding of textile production and manufacturing
• Experience working with overseas suppliers advantageous
• Strong commercial design portfolio
• Creative, organised and detail-focused
• Able to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines
• Confident communicator and collaborative team player

The Salary

£30,000-£35,000 per annum, depending on experience and suitability for the role
