Job summary

A leading recruitment agency in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Homeless Prevention Visiting Officer to support vulnerable residents and prevent homelessness in South East London. The ideal candidate will have strong case management skills and experience in tenancy sustainment. This role offers a pay rate of £30 per hour on a temporary basis.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Housing Options / Homelessness Prevention Officer or similar local authority role.
  • Strong knowledge of HRA 2017, homelessness legislation, and case law.
  • Confident conducting home visits and working autonomously in the community.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage high-volume caseloads.
  • Enhanced DBS.

Responsibilities

  • Provide early-intervention, outreach, and home-visiting support to residents at risk of homelessness.
  • Carry out robust assessments in line with the Housing Act 1996.
  • Develop Personalised Housing Plans and implement prevention strategies.
  • Engage with landlords and partner agencies to sustain tenancies.
  • Manage a caseload of complex clients, maintaining accurate records.
  • Offer expert advice on housing rights and welfare benefits.

Job description

Job Title: Homeless Prevention Visiting Officer
Location: South East London
Pay Rate: £30 per hour (umbrella)
Contract: Temporary (ongoing)

We are currently seeking an experienced Homeless Prevention Visiting Officer to join a busy Housing Solutions service in South East London. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive officer with strong case management and tenancy sustainment experience to support vulnerable residents and prevent homelessness within the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide early-intervention, outreach, and home-visiting support to residents at risk of homelessness.
  • Carry out robust assessments in line with the Housing Act 1996 (as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017).
  • Develop Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs) and implement effective prevention strategies.
  • Engage with landlords, support providers, and partner agencies to sustain tenancies and resolve housing issues.
  • Manage a caseload of complex clients, maintaining accurate records and ensuring timely progression of cases.
  • Offer expert advice on housing rights, welfare benefits, arrears management, and homelessness duties.
