Job summary

Specsavers is hiring a Home Visits Optical Assistant to take eye care directly to patients' doorsteps across the Essex region. You will dispense lenses and provide clinical care in a variety of testing environments, with flexibility to cover nearby areas as needed.

Candidates should have 6+ months optical experience, hold a full UK driving licence, and be ready to join a supportive team with training, benefits, and opportunities for development.

Qualifications

Current or recent optical experience (6 months–1 year), with ability to confidently dispense at all levels.
Must hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

Travel to customers' homes to provide eye care and dispense lenses.
Work across Essex region and nearby locations as needed.
Deliver patient-focused eye care with warmth and professionalism.

Are you ready to take your skills on the road? As a Home Visits Optical Assistant at Specsavers, you can do just that.

You’ll be driving our services to the doorsteps of the nation, providing eye care to the people who are unable to come into our stores. Not only do you help them with their sight, you’ll also be bringing smiles and clinical care into the heart of your community.

The job is varied: you’ll work in a range of locations and testing environments every day – no two days are the same. Our region stretches from Romford across to Colchester and from Bishop's Stortford down to Southend-on-Sea, but our ever-expanding team is scattered across the region so we will always aim to keep you as close to home as possible, although there may be times you will have to cover anywhere within the Essex region.

We can only consider candidates who hold a full UK driving licence and can confidently dispense lenses at all levels.

Salary: up to £29,000 per annum DOE (combined package of up to £35,000 per annum)
Car allowance of £3,000 per annum
Bonus based on performance; average between £2,000 and £3,000 per annum
Working hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm (Flexibility required)
