Job summary

Sainsbury’s is hiring Home Delivery Drivers in Stevenage. You’ll drive a 3.5 tonne van, delivering groceries to customers’ doorsteps on time and in good condition, while maintaining vehicle safety and cleanliness.

You’ll complete driving risk assessments, use digital tools and customer service to answer questions and substitutions, and assist across the store as needed. A full UK driving licence and right-to-work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

• Must be over 18 and hold a full UK/EU driving licence for 12+ months with no more than 6 points
• Online driving risk assessment during interview and driving assessment after joining
• Right to Work eligibility in the UK

Responsibilities

• Drive a 3.5 tonne van to deliver groceries to customers' doorsteps on time and in good condition
• Carry out checks to ensure the van is safe and organised, and delivery cases are secure
• Answer customer questions, handle substitutions, and communicate delays effectively
• Build knowledge of products, services and promotions to provide recommendations
• When not delivering, assist across the store as needed

Working in our stores:

As one of our Home Delivery Drivers, you’ll be one of the special ingredient that delivers everything our online customers shop at Sainsbury’s for.

• You must be over 18 and have held a full UK/EU driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points on it
• You will complete an online driving risk assessment as part of your interview and, if you’re successful, there’ll be a driving assessment when you join us
• You must have Right to Work eligibility in the UK

What you’ll be doing:

• Driving a 3.5 tonne van to deliver groceries to our customers doorsteps, on-time and in a great condition
• Completing checks to ensure the van is organised, clean and roadworthy, and that delivery cases are secure before getting out onto the road to drive safely in a variety of locations and conditions
• Serve our customers brilliantly, supporting with any questions and substitutions, and keeping them aware of any delays
• Build great knowledge about our products, services and promotions to help provide recommendations
• When not out making deliveries, you will be helping across the store as needed

• Sainsbury’s has created a safer driving environment by installing in‑cab AI cameras that monitor driver behaviour and help ensure compliance with road laws and defensive‑driving standards to protect drivers and other road users
