QHSE and FM Compliance Manager – Salary £50,000 – £55,000 (experience dependent). Mitie Care & Custody (C&C) is working towards establishing HMP Millsike as a place of restoration and rehabilitation, where prisoners can unlock their full potential and make meaningful, positive changes in their lives.
Job Objectives and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the Health, Safety and Environment strategy for the Prison ensuring all Mitie procedures and Prison requirements are met.
- Support the Prison management team to achieve highest QHSE standards and optimise the HSE structure in I&J and the wider Mitie, by adopting strong processes to help the businesses obtain their targeted results and embed a positive health and safety culture.
- Develop the HSE workstream – providing coaching and mentoring to the prison team.
- Represent HSE as part of the senior management team.
- Input and manage the Risk, Assurance and Compliance of the Prison.
- Provide an excellent client‑facing HSE service to the Business.
- Deliver a Quality and risk management service that promotes continual improvement and a culture of compliance.
- Coordinate the Prison Fire Safety management system including the organisation of Fire Risk Assessments.
Person Specification
- Motivated, caring individuals looking to be part of the Government's drive to cut reoffending through effective rehabilitation. This role will provide a safe, secure environment at HMP Millsike, reassuring the public and victims of crime that perpetrators are serving a secure sentence for their crimes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in a managing QHSE role in a custodial or secure environment is preferred, however not essential.
- Qualified to NEBOSH certificate level or above
- Proven track record in delivering QHSE change management initiatives
- Strong proven knowledge and application of UK Health, Safety & Environmental law
- Sound knowledge of risks and controls associated with the provision of regulated activities
- Sound knowledge of risks and controls associated with high‑risk activities undertaken across the business
- Proven project management skills and problem solving with ability to prioritise and multitask
