A leading education staffing agency in the UK is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for immediate start in Wirral. This role involves supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a nurturing environment. Ideal candidates will have experience with SEMH, excellent engagement skills, and the ability to lead small group interventions. Contract Type: Full-Time / Part-Time (Flexible)
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £100 – £120 per day (dependent on experience)
TeacherActive are proud to be working in partnership with a fantastic specialist provision on the Wirral that supports children and young people with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This nurturing and inclusive setting provides tailored education both on and off-site, helping pupils to re-engage with learning and develop confidence, resilience, and positive relationships.
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced HLTA to join this passionate team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs and will be confident leading small intervention groups and delivering targeted support programmes.
Support the planning and delivery of learning activities under the guidance of teaching staff.
Lead small group interventions both in school and in off-site alternative provision settings.
Work closely with pupils to build trust and positive engagement.
Support individual learning plans and monitor pupil progress.
Collaborate effectively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals.
Hold HLTA status (or equivalent experience).
Have proven experience working with SEMH or similar needs.
Be confident managing behaviour in a positive, restorative way.
Be adaptable, compassionate, and able to engage pupils who may have faced barriers to education.
Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to transport (preferred but not essential).
