Job summary

Vital Energi is seeking a motivated HIU Service Engineer to deliver servicing across London’s energy networks and residential developments. You will perform planned maintenance on HIUs and MVHR systems, aiming for high service quality in occupied properties while complying with manufacturer guidelines and contract requirements.

The role involves completing 8–10 services per day, working independently to a planned programme, and participating in on-call rota for reactive maintenance and breakdown

Qualifications

• Hold a City & Guilds qualification or equivalent.
• Experience wiring and fixing boilers/heating, HVAC, steam, air handling, cooling or renewable energy.
• Full UK manual driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on HIUs and MVHR systems across residential developments in London.
• Complete 8–10 HIU/MVHR services per day and maintain accurate service records.
• Provide reactive maintenance, breakdown attendance and fault diagnosis beyond routine servicing.

• Perform general ad hoc maintenance in Energy Centre Plantrooms and work safely in accordance with H&S policy.

About the role

The HIU Service Engineer is responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on Heat Interface Units (HIUs) and Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) systems across residential developments throughout London. The role is focused solely on servicing activities, ensuring equipment is maintained in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, contract requirements, and company procedures.

The engineer is typically scheduled to complete between 8-10 HIU or MVHR services per day, working independently to a planned programme of maintenance visits. Duties include conducting routine inspections, servicing components, identifying defects, recording asset information, producing accurate service records, and highlighting any remedial works required.

• Participation in an on-call rota.
• Reactive maintenance or emergency call-outs.

• Energy centre, plantroom, or district heating network maintenance.
• Major repairs, commissioning, or project work.

This role is therefore highly structured, with the engineer's primary objective being to complete scheduled services safely, efficiently, and to a high standard while maintaining excellent customer service within occupied residential properties. Success in the role is measured through service completion rates, quality of service records, compliance with maintenance procedures, customer experience, and the identification of potential issues before they develop into failures.

Key responsibilities

• Completing scheduled servicing of Heat Interface Units in accordance with the servicing procedure
• Providing reactive maintenance for loss of services within required Service Level Agreements
• Identification and review of equipment faults carrying out repairs where required
• Inputting and maintaining documentation and records using the company asset management software
• Carrying out general ad hoc maintenance tasks within Energy Centre Plantrooms
• Working in a safe manner and in accordance with the company's Health & Safety policy

What you will need

• Hold a city & guilds qualification or equivalent
• Experience wiring and fixing, Boilers/Heating, HVAC, Steam, Air Handling, Cooling, Renewable Energy (e.g Solar or Heat Pumps), or similar
• Full UK manual driving licence
