Job summary

CANDL Recruitment is working with a well‑established secondary school in South East London to recruit a passionate History Teacher on a permanent basis. This role is suitable for an experienced teacher or a strong ECT, within a supportive humanities department.

The ideal candidate will bring History to life, engage students, and help develop analytical and critical-thinking skills across KS3 and KS4.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent.
• Strong subject knowledge in History.
• Experience teaching History at secondary level.

CANDL Recruitment is working with a well‑established secondary school in South East London to recruit a passionate and engaging History Teacher on a permanent basis.

The school is part of a respected multi‑academy trust with a strong focus on high expectations, professional development and creating opportunities for students beyond the classroom.

This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced History Teacher or a strong ECT who wants to join a supportive humanities department and make a real impact.

The school is looking for someone who can bring History to life, engage students in the subject and help them develop strong analytical, written and critical‑thinking skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach History across KS3 and KS4.


• Plan and deliver engaging, well‑structured lessons.


• Assess pupil progress and provide constructive feedback.


• Support students to develop strong historical knowledge and analytical skills.


• Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development.

Requirements

Essential

• Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent.


• Strong subject knowledge in History.


• Experience teaching History at secondary level.

• Commitment to safeguarding and pupil progress.

Desirable

• Experience teaching GCSE History.


• Experience within a large secondary school or academy.


• Evidence of contributing to curriculum development or enrichment.


• ECTs with strong placements will also be considered.
