Job summary

Classroom Talent is recruiting a qualified History Teacher for a large 11–18 school in Luton, Bedfordshire. The role starts January 2027 on a long-term supply contract to July 2027, with a permanent opportunity for the right candidate starting September 2027.

The school has a strong History provision, with over half the cohort choosing History at GCSE, and a Humanities faculty of around 15 teachers. You will teach across KS3–KS5, plan engaging lessons, and contribute to curriculum development.

Qualifications

• UK QTS or QTLS – essential.
• History specialist with strong subject knowledge.
• Able to teach History confidently across KS3, KS4 and KS5.
• Experience teaching GCSE History.
• Confident teaching A Level History.
• Passionate about History and able to bring the subject to life.
• Committed to achieving strong outcomes for students.
• Able to work collaboratively as part of a large Humanities team.
• Applications welcomed from experienced History Teachers and ECTs who can demonstrate the required subject knowledge and ability to teach across the key stages.

Responsibilities

• Teach History across KS3, KS4 and KS5.
• Deliver engaging and challenging History lessons.
• Teach GCSE History within a school where many students choose History at GCSE.
• Plan and deliver high-quality lessons developing historical knowledge, analysis and critical thinking.
• Monitor student progress and use assessment to support achievement.
• Contribute to curriculum planning and development within History.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Humanities faculty.
