We have an exciting opportunity within the Business Operations team, part of the Highways Operation Centre (HOC).

We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Highways Support Manager. This is a key leadership role within our Business Operations team. Your expertise will help deliver excellent customer service, support cost recovery, and ensure compliance with legislation while delivering essential Highways services.

The Role:

As Highways Support Manager, you’ll play an integral part in delivering Hampshire Highways services, including Highway licences, red and green claims and enforcement notices. We strive to provide an outstanding service that is efficient, cost-effective, and meets the needs of Hampshire’s residents and partners.

You’ll manage workflow, prioritise workloads, and support your team’s development through mentoring and regular reviews. Acting as the escalation point for complex enquiries, you will play a vital role in driving continuous improvement, process development and cost recovery initiatives.

What you’ll do:

We’ll deliver high‑quality customer service, manage cost recovery and maintain compliance with highway legislation. You will lead a team to ensure efficient delivery of services and drive improvement initiatives across the organisation.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for a proactive, forward‑thinking leader who is enthusiastic about making a difference. You’ll be a confident communicator and dynamic problem solver, with strong organisational skills and a commitment to high‑quality service. Experience in line management and knowledge of highways legislation would be advantageous.

You’ll also have a proven ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in order to deliver high‑quality services.

If you’re self‑motivated, flexible, and share our commitment to continuous improvement, we’d love to hear from you.

Benefits:

We can offer you a rewarding career with great developmental opportunities and will encourage you and support you to develop a range of skills and in‑depth service knowledge.

  • Access to apprenticeships and nationally recognised qualifications
  • Competitive annual leave entitlement, starting from 24 days' holiday full‑time equivalent, plus bank holidays
  • Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Employee loans for travel costs

To help you meet your work and domestic commitments, we have a variety of flexible working arrangements available. These include part‑time, flexi‑time and home‑working. These can be used where operational requirements can be met.

We are based in a city‑centre building with access to excellent facilities and close to local transport links.
