Highways Project Manager

Location: County Hall, High Street, Newport, PO30 1UD

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 6+ Months

Working Hours: Mon - Fri, 09:00 - 17:00, 37 Hours per week

Pay Rate: £ 36.94 Per Hour

Job Responsibilities
  • Visit Isle of Wight twice a month; own transport is helpful.
  • Support the Service Director and Strategic Manager in delivering travel, transport, and highway infrastructure projects.
  • Manage work packages using strong project management methods.
  • Engage and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the local community.
  • Maintain clear communication channels for projects.
  • Role 1: Focus on DfT Safer Roads scheme, Active travel schemes, and Pedestrian Improvements.
  • Role 2: Focus on Surface Water Drainage Schemes and landslip area schemes in South Wight.
  • Establish project governance and prepare documentation for boards and committees.
  • Facilitate partnership working with communities and stakeholders.
  • Identify and manage stakeholders, ensuring regular engagement.
  • Commission professional services and developer contracts as needed.
  • Make delivery decisions, manage risks, and guide strategic decision-makers.
  • Oversee projects from start to finish, managing plans, delivery, and budgets.
  • Ensure quality and integrity of projects within the highways capital program.
  • Provide technical expertise in development financing and delivery.
Person Specifications
Must Have
  • Experience in project management.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Technical knowledge in development financing and delivery.
Nice to Have
  • Own transport for travel to Isle of Wight.
