Cumberland Council is hiring a Highway Operative to perform essential highway maintenance, patching, drainage works, and grounds maintenance. You will assist Highway Team Leaders in inspecting and repairing the highway network and participate in traffic management and on-call incidents.
The role is permanent with opportunities for career growth and development, offering a structured public service environment within the council.
Join our team as a Highway Operative, where you’ll perform essential tasks such as minor highway construction, patching, reactive maintenance, and drainage works. You’ll also engage in grounds maintenance and support Highway Team Leaders in inspecting and repairing the highway network. Key responsibilities include traffic management, emergency callouts, fencing repairs, installing traffic signs, and operating small plant and tools.
