Highways Inspector - Cambridgeshire County Council
Salary: £350 Per Day
Hours: 37 Hours
Working Schedule: Monday to Friday
Contract Length: 5 Months
Location: (National Highways' Wintringham A428 site office) - Field based
Responsibilities
- Inspect the construction of portions of the A428 DCO that will become Cambridgeshire County Council assets, restricted to overbridges and junctions (not the mainline).
- Undertake site visits to spot check work, review testing data, check material tickets, and ensure compliance against approved drawings.
- Escalate deviations from the approved design or other faults to the project sponsor and on-site supervisor.
- Inspect National Highways led infrastructure that will revert to CCC when complete; specific sites include Potton Road overbridge, Cambridge Road junction, Toesland Road overbridge, Eltisley junction, and Caxton Gibbet junction.
- When inspection locations include structures, recognise that these structures remain with National Highways and do not require inspection; inspection will include earthworks.
- Inspect groundworks, review soil testing data, review material tickets, and check for compliance against approved drawings; escalate deviations with the project sponsor for resolution.
- Check into the scheme's site office at Wintringham (St Neots) and proceed to inspect works using a Skanska works vehicle.
- Advocate for CCC's long-term interests through the construction process and bring experience in inspecting the construction of major highway infrastructure.
