Job summary

National Highways is seeking an Inspector to perform asset condition and safety inspections on the network. You will drive to sites, carry out inspections and provide feedback on asset repairs while coordinating with the team manager.

Role involves daytime patterns with some unsociable hours and a requirement to drive, with ideally an hour's commute from the depot. You will work solo or with another inspector and must manage workload effectively.

Qualifications

• Knowledge or experience of undertaking highways asset condition inspections.
• Knowledge of highway asset maintenance and legal aspects of highways maintenance/inspection.
• Good understanding of Health and Safety applicable to highway maintenance works.

Responsibilities

• Carry out regular driven Safety Inspections, reporting and raise work requests for high priority safety defects.
• Carry out cyclical and ad-hoc driving and walking asset inspections on the network and record findings.
• Monitor event signage and illegal signage and escalate issues.
• Support regional engineering teams in planning activities with up-to-date asset information.
• Prioritise health, safety and wellbeing of customers and colleagues.
