Job description
Overview

We are delighted to offer an opportunity for a Highly Specialised Clinical Psychologist to join our welcoming team in the City of York. The role is in the Neurodevelopmental Team, providing a specialist psychology lens to an established service. The successful candidate will support our Consultant Psychologists in delivering and developing patient‑focused pathways and share their expertise with the wider team. This is a fixed term post to cover maternity leave and provides opportunities for career development. Main duties

The successful applicant will join a well‑established community team and work in the community within a supportive, collaborative multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include specialist psychological assessment, formulation and interventions for young people and their families, supervision, advice, consultation and training to other team members, and involvement in service development initiatives as the service evolves to meet population needs. Experience of working with young people and families, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and with multi‑agency partners, is important. Experience of working systemically would be beneficial. The post holder will receive regular supervision from the Consultant Psychologist and will join a strong psychology network across the trust and CAMHS directorate.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Post‑graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
  • Post doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
  • Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees
  • Trained in care co‑ordination
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

  • Registration with BPS

Experience

  • Essential: Working as a qualified applied psychologist within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups, across the life course and with varying clinical severity and care settings.
  • Exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care as a care coordinator within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Teaching, training, clinical supervision and field supervision for doctoral theses; quality and service improvement and evaluation.
  • Desirable: Experience of joint working with statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies.
