Job summary

Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust seeks an Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist to provide expert assessment, formulation and intervention for people experiencing acute mental health crisis. You will work in Home Treatment Teams, enabling recovery, independence and meaningful occupations while helping prevent hospital admission.

Join a multidisciplinary team and contribute to service development, OT leadership and timely discharges.

Qualifications

  • Must have HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Occupational Therapy degree (or equivalent).
  • Driving licence valid in the UK with access to a vehicle for work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality, evidence-based OT assessment, formulation, intervention and consultation for people with complex needs and their families.
  • Communicate effectively with clinicians, managers and service users to support service leadership and delivery.
  • Support crisis intervention, recovery-focused care and admission avoidance within a multi-disciplinary team.

Job description

We are delighted to introduce occupational therapy across our all age Home Treatment Teams as part of the service delivery model designed to enhance comunity based crisis care and improve outcomes for people over 18 years who are experiencing an mental health crisis. This is a unique opportunity to shape and develop occupational therapy provision within a dynamic multidisciplinary team, bringing an occupational perspective to crisis intervention, recovery-focused care, and admission avoidance pathways. As a newly established role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence service development, strengthen occupational therapy leadership within the team, and contribute to the future direction of home treatment services. As the Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist within the team you will be providing expert occupational therapy assessment, formulation and interventions for people who are experiencing acute mental health crisis and their families. Your occupationally focused interventions will support recovery, independence and participation in meaningful occupations. You will work collaborative within a multi-disciplinary team to support people to remain at home during a crisis and support timely discharges from hospital.

  • To provide high quality and evidence -based occupational therapy assessment, formulation, intervention and consultation to people with complex needs who access services and their carers/supporters/family members, in line with occupational therapy and service pathways.
  • To communicate effectively with a range of clinicians, managers, directors, associate directors, people who access services, carers/supporters/family members, stakeholders, and agencies. To provide compassionate and effective leaderships to junior staff including support staff. To strengthen and actively contribute to the overall leadership of the service. To support the team managers and clinical leads in the development and delivery of effective services.
  • To provide high quality and evidence -based occupational therapy assessment, formulation, intervention and consultation to people with complex needs who access services and their carers/supporters/family members, in line with occupational therapy and service pathways.

  • Highly specialist knowledge of relevant occupational therapy assessment and treatment models
  • Experience of providing supervision
  • Experience of representing occupational therapy within a service and Trust
