Job Summary
A rare opportunity has arisen in North West Sussex CAMHS for a highly specialist Family & Systemic Psychotherapist. The role is part of an integrated family and systemic psychotherapy service across Coastal NW Sussex CAMHS, working in a supportive county‑wide group and Trust‑wide Systemic Practice Network.
Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality specialist family and systemic psychotherapy to children, young people, families, carers and networks.
- Lead on complex cases and support junior staff, exercising clinical leadership within the team.
- Consult, supervise, formulate, train and mentor staff across multidisciplinary settings.
- Develop, evaluate and monitor family therapy and systemic practice within the service, contributing to operational policies.
- Conduct risk assessment, formulation and management for individual clients with complex presentations.
- Apply research skills to undertake service evaluation, audit and research, disseminating results locally and nationally.
- Communicate client assessment, formulation and treatment plans sensitively, monitoring progress in multisector care.
- Act as care coordinator or lead practitioner where appropriate and promote user and carer involvement in care planning.
- Collaborate actively in multidisciplinary team working and liaise with external agencies.
Qualifications
- Accreditation in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
- Substantial post‑qualification experience in specialist psychological therapy, maintaining high professionalism with emotionally demanding cases.
- Recognised accredited postgraduate level training in a psychological therapy as specified in the relevant appendix.
- Professional registration as specified in the appendix.
- Evidence of post‑qualification training in clinical supervision (desirable).
- Experience of teaching, training and supervision in demanding organisational contexts.
- Clear, theoretically informed approach to supervision and representation of psychological therapy in multidisciplinary care.
- Significant experience working with the specific client group served by Horsham CAMHS and knowledge of relevant guidance and legislation.
- High level specialist knowledge of theory and practice of specialist psychological therapy, applied to the client group using this service.
- Experience of applying therapy in different cultural contexts and working within a multicultural framework.
- Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the professional registration/accrediting body.
- Experience of conducting formal research, audit or service evaluation in a healthcare setting.

Remuneration and Contract
Salary: £55,690 to £62,682 a year pro‑rate (Band 8a). Permanent part‑time contract. Working pattern: part‑time.
