Job summary

Supply Desk is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support a Portsmouth primary school. You will deliver lessons during PPA time, assist teachers in raising pupil attainment, and provide targeted support to individuals and small groups.

The role emphasizes inclusive education and strong relationships with pupils, staff and families, with DBS checks and safeguarding procedures in place.

Qualifications

  • HLTA qualification desirable or willingness to work towards one.
  • Experience in a primary school, ideally KS1/KS2.
  • Strong understanding of supporting children's learning and development.

Pay Rate: £95 – £130 per day

About the Role

Supply Desk is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming primary school in Portsmouth.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to take the next step in their education career. You will work closely with class teachers to support pupil progress, deliver lessons during teacher PPA time and training, and provide targeted support to individuals and small groups.

The school places a strong emphasis on positive relationships, inclusion and helping pupils become confident and independent learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver lessons during teacher PPA and training time.
  • Support class teachers in raising pupil attainment and engagement.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to support access to the curriculum.
  • Promote pupil independence, confidence and social development.
  • Support learning across KS1 and KS2.
  • Contribute to classroom and wider school activities.

Candidate Requirements
  • HLTA qualification desirable, or willingness to work towards one.
  • Previous experience working within a primary school, ideally across KS1 and/or KS2.
  • Strong understanding of supporting children's learning and development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Confident delivering learning activities and managing a classroom.
  • Passionate about inclusive education.
  • DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
