Job description
Higher Level Teaching Assistant, 37hpw (Term Time Only plus 5 days)

£28,598 whole time week paid 44.221 pro rata to term time only plus 5 days

Fixed Term contract until 31 August 2026 with the possibility of becoming permanent

Mosaic Federation is a partnership between Valley View Primary School and Hedworthfield Primary School in Jarrow. Both schools are one form entry primary schools with nursery provision. Hedworthfield has two specialist SEND units – one for speech and language difficulties and one for pupils with ASD. The schools work incredibly closely with each other to ensure the best use of resources, sharing of skills and developing opportunities for both staff and pupils to thrive.

Role will involve:
  • Covering PPA and management time
  • Delivering, assessing and amending interventions and booster sessions for pupils of all abilities including those who are disadvantaged
  • Supporting with some aspects of therapeutic intervention and family support
  • Delivering some break and after‑school interventions and clubs where appropriate and manageable within working hours and workload required
  • Covering staff absence
  • Working flexibly between the two schools – e.g. two days in each school with a pastoral support day or working in one school for a week to cover an absence
  • Supporting the wellbeing, mental health and happiness of all children in school

  • A candidate who holds high expectations of behaviour and achievement for all pupils, including the most disadvantaged and SEND
  • A candidate with the academic ability to support with boosters and tuition in upper KS2
  • A candidate with experience covering whole classes, delivering interventions and tuition
  • A candidate with experience delivering therapeutic and family‑based support or a willingness to undertake these
  • A candidate who is ambitious for themselves and willing to undertake additional study and training

Due to the split site appointment, visits to school are not available prior to interview. However, if selected for interview you will be invited to look around one school and interviews will be held in the other school with a tour as part of the interview process.
