Newfield School in Blackburn, Lancashire, is seeking enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistants to join our busy, rewarding school from January 2027. The HLTA role can be deployed across key areas including Sensory Integration, Behaviour, and Communication & Interaction, with an apprenticeship pathway in Speech & Language Support Practitioner.

You will support pupils’ education and care needs and help promote effective communication using tools such as Makaton and PECS.

• HLTA experience or strong interest in working with children with special needs
• Ability to work as part of a team and under the direction of teaching staff

We are looking to appoint a number of enthusiasticand committed Higher Level Teaching Assistants to join our busy, demanding andrewarding school, starting in January 2027.

The HLTA role atNewfield can be deployed in a number of ways. We are looking for candidates tolead in the following areas:

• Sensory Integration
• Behaviour
• Communication and Interaction – thispost will be supported by the following apprenticeship Speech &Language Support Practitioner | Level 5 Apprenticeship | Best Practice Network.

Candidates should beaware that if the needs of the school change, they could be deployed to any of the key requirement roles (attached).

You will support pupils’education, health, medical, physical and general care needs following agreedplans, promote effective communication for all pupils using a range of agreedstrategies e.g.: Makaton, PECS, communication aides etc. and take a lead rolein the management of pupils and the classroom under the direction of theteacher.
