Overview

Keyham Barton is a welcoming, inclusive Catholic primary school at the heart of the Plymouth community. Main Responsibilities
  • Support the teaching and learning of pupils across the school, including delivering planned lessons to whole classes in the teacher's absence.
  • Work closely with teachers to plan and prepare learning activities that meet the needs of all pupils.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to support pupils' progress in literacy, numeracy, and other curriculum areas.
  • Support the assessment of pupils' learning by observing, recording, and providing feedback to teachers.
  • Assist with the preparation and organisation of learning materials and classroom resources.
  • Promote positive behaviour and attitudes in line with the school's Christian values and behaviour policy.
  • Support children with additional needs, working closely with the SENCo and external professionals as required.
  • Supervise pupils during break and lunch times as part of the school's duty rota.
  • Contribute to whole-school activities, events, and ethos.
Person Specification

Essential:

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent (Level 4 or above).
  • Proven experience working within a primary school setting.
  • Ability to deliver lessons and manage a classroom effectively.
  • Strong understanding of the primary curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive, nurturing approach to supporting children's learning and wellbeing.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting children with SEND.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Experience in leading small group interventions or specific curriculum areas.
