Academics are supporting a secondary school in Portsmouth in recruiting a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled practitioner to play a key role in supporting teaching staff and contributing to the development, progress, and wellbeing of learners across the school.

About the Role

The successful HLTA will assist with the planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons - both whole-class and individual - ensuring that all students receive high-quality support. You will prepare learning resources, contribute to assessing student progress, and provide structured feedback to class teachers to help meet each learner's needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver targeted interventions, including support for students with SEMH needs
  • Assist in lesson planning and delivery under teacher direction
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support
  • Help maintain a nurturing, structured, and supportive learning environment
What We're Looking For
  • HLTA status or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs (grade C/4 or above) including English and Maths

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff
