Primary Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Are you a qualified and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) looking for flexible work in Huddersfield and the surrounding areas? Stafflex Education is currently recruiting passionate HLTAs to support primary schools across Kirklees on a supply basis. Whether you're looking for day‑to‑day flexibility or a longer‑term placement, we can help you find a role that suits your skills, preferences, and availability.

About the Role

• Provide high‑quality support across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2
• Deliver pre‑planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
• Occasionally plan and deliver your own sessions for short‑notice cover
• Support small groups or individual pupils to boost progress
• Assist with classroom management and behaviour strategies
• Adapt quickly to different school settings with confidence and initiative

Requirements

• HLTA qualification (or equivalent)
• Experience in primary school settings
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with children and staff
• Confident delivering lessons and supporting a variety of learning needs
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
