Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA - Level 4) - Specialist SEMH/SEND Provision

Location: Greenwich

Salary: £120 - £140 per day

Contract: Full-time, Long term, Term-time

Start Date: ASAP

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH/SEND provision in the Greenwich area. This provision supports pupils with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, and social, emotional and mental health challenges. With a trauma-informed and therapeutic approach, the school provides personalised education for children and young people aged 7-19.

The Role

We are looking for a dedicated and caring Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join the outreach team. In this role, you will support pupils\' learning both in school and in off-site settings, including residential homes or remote learning when required. You will deliver tailored sessions based on individual learning plans and work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure pupils receive consistent support and care.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver small group and one-to-one support sessions in line with learning objectives
  • Support pupils both in school and off-site, adapting approaches to meet individual needs
  • Use trauma-informed strategies to promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Assist with planning, preparation of learning materials, and monitoring of pupil progress
  • Maintain effective communication with the teaching team, parents, and carers
  • Promote safeguarding and ensure the welfare of all pupils is prioritised
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • HLTA qualification (Level 4) or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar educational role
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH and/or ASC needs
  • Strong understanding of child development and the primary/secondary curriculum
  • Skilled in behaviour management and therapeutic approaches
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
