The Higher Clinical Fellow post sits with the SoNAR South neonatal transport team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, based at Derriford Hospital. Work combines tier 2 care of critically ill infants on a rota with transfers of newborns across the South West neonatal network, plus audit and service development.

The team runs 12-hour weekday shifts and can deliver cooling, nitric oxide and HFOV during transfer.

Formación

• GMC registration on the Specialist Register or eligibility.
• MRCPCH or equivalent and CCT/CCST in Paediatrics or CESR eligibility.
• Minimum 2 years at middle grade in tertiary neonatal medicine.
• Advanced neonatal medicine skills and NLS provider competence.
• Ability to lead and participate in audits and clinical governance.
• Excellent English language skills (IELTS or equivalent).

Responsabilidades

• Deliver care to critically ill infants on the neonatal unit on a rota.
• Participate in transport of term and preterm newborns including transfers.
• Record referrals into SoNAR and participate in daily ring-around.
• Train to deliver most transfers independently with consultant support.
• Audit service provision and analyze clinical incidents.
• Develop clinical guidelines and quality improvement projects.
• Collaborate with education, simulation and governance leads.
• Coordinate neonatal roadshows with SoNAR leads.
• Pursue special interests such as cardiology, NLS/ARNI, and simulation.
