Job description

You will undertake your training at the Academy for Skills and Knowledge. Gaining training in practical and theory-based engineering; learn electrical circuits, aircraft fitting, fabrication, flight line awareness, machining, carbon fibre and Computer Aided Design. You will then also complete placements in Facilities Management, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Infrastructure and Estates covering:

Training and Development
  • Safe systems of working
  • A technical contribution to the design, development, test, integration and support of products, equipment, systems, processes or services
  • Techniques and procedures to solve engineering/manufacturing problems
  • Level 2 Diploma in Aerospace and Aviation Engineering
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Technical Support
  • Level 4 HNC in General Engineering
  • Level 4 Diploma in Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing

You will also be encouraged to become accredited to a professional institution such as the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), Institute of Workplace & Facilities Management (IWFM) or Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE). On completion you will be assessed against the competency requirements for a Manufacturing Technician (ManTech)., 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 9-4/A -C which must include Maths & English & a Science/Technical Subject AND 1 of the following: 3 A-levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above. 1 subject must be Maths and 1 subject must be in Engineering or a Science/Technical subject OR an equivalent level 3 vocational qualification (must be a STEM related subject that aligns to the scheme/area you are applying for and worth a minimum of 96 UCAS points)

Please note you must not book any annual leave within the first 3 months of your apprenticeship. Following this, leave will be considered depending on the individual training delivery schedule and must be approved by your line manager.
