Energy Department

The Energy Department is responsible for end‑to‑end delivery of power and energy, from strategy and acquisition to operation with a strong focus on sustainability, continuous improvement, innovation and NetZero targets. The department secures high‑voltage and medium‑voltage power connections, deploys utility connection and power infrastructure, and negotiates renewable electricity supply agreements to support our data centers.

Position Overview

Vantage seeks a HV Electrical Engineer (Power & Energy) to support end‑to‑end technical aspects of energy infrastructure for data center campuses across EMEA. As the SME, responsibilities include conceptual design, system studies, specification development, document review, EPC contractor management, commissioning, and operational transition while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver optimized infrastructure and enhance energy delivery goals.

Essential Functions
  • Electrical System Design & Innovation – Architect topologies for HV substations, cables, multi‑fuel generation, modular nuclear, renewables (solar, battery, microgrids, wind).
  • Substation, MFGP, SMR, Renewables & Cable Design Support – Review power infrastructure packages, specifications, equipment selection, utility interfaces, and conduct engineering studies.
  • Value Engineering – Conduct value engineering and system recommendations to balance cost‑effectiveness with design and operational sustainability.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Interface with internal engineering, operations, and construction teams; manage electrical engineering contractors and key SME utilities.
  • Customer Support – Support sales with tours, RFP responses, customer meetings, and bespoke solutions; assist with emergencies as required.
  • Project Reporting – Provide weekly management reporting on substation progress, risks, blockers, and priorities.
  • Grid and Regulatory Expertise – Knowledge of local grid operators, regulatory requirements, and high‑level understanding of utility networks.
  • Project & Design Management – Track and provide oversight for project plans, equipment submittals, design, delivery, and commissioning efforts; coordinate design team meetings.
  • Compliance and Efficiency – Ensure compliance with VDC design standards, utility/AHJ, and customer requirements while optimizing power operations and meeting NetZero goals.
  • Continuous Improvement – Drive lessons learned, best practices, product development and value engineering initiatives across EMEA to improve power management.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Educational Background – Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Major) or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Experience – 4–7 years in HV electrical design and delivery, with preference for HV/EHV systems and data center applications.
  • Technical Knowledge – EU substation design, IEC, BS standards, building/fire codes, local utility requirements, UK National Grid experience (TP141, LCDAE/CDAE).
  • Software Skills – Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, BIM360, Navisworks and other system study software.
  • Communication & Leadership – Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Project / Design Management – Technical and commercial aptitude with project management tools.
  • Adaptability – Flexible, self‑directed, and able to work under pressure across multiple time zones and environments, including remote or while traveling.
  • Travel & Tasks – 20–25% international travel required; additional tasks as business evolves.
