Job summary

Ernest Gordon Recruitment is seeking a Junior Commissioning Engineer (High Voltage) in Manchester to support HV testing and commissioning on 66kV+ systems, progressing to greater responsibility.

You will work with senior engineers, gain hands-on experience on systems up to 400kV+, participate in safety documentation, and travel to project sites nationwide as required.

The role offers structured training, a pathway to specialist HV commissioning, a company vehicle, and benefits.

Qualifications

• 66kV+ HV systems/equipment experience required.
• Electrical background via apprenticeship or HNC/HND or equivalent.
• Experience in HV installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance or substations.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced engineers with HV testing and commissioning on systems from 66kV up to 400kV+.
• Support with equipment setup, testing, safety checks, RAMS and commissioning documentation.
• Gain experience with primary and secondary injection testing.
• Assist with protection relay testing and commissioning.
• Develop knowledge of HV switchgear, substations, SCADA and fibre optic systems.
• Travel nationwide to client and project sites.
• Work alongside senior engineers while developing towards greater responsibility and autonomy.
