Job summary

Uxbridge College is seeking a High Skills Technician for Mechanical Engineering to support its higher education delivery and the West London Institute of Technology. You will work within the Mechanical Engineering area, assisting lecturers, maintaining equipment and supervising students during practical tasks.

The role requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering, experience with mechanical test equipment, and a strong commitment to health and safety when working with young people in teaching

Qualifications

• Requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering and knowledge of mechanical test equipment.
• Experience with material testing, fluid mechanics and basic mechanical principles.
• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with young people.

Uxbridge College has excellent facilities for the delivery of Engineering, and this is an exciting time to join our highly successful team. In the role of High Skills Technician for Mechanical Engineering, you will support our higher education delivery and the West London Institute of Technology, which offers a range of higher education programmes.

You will work within the Mechanical Engineering area including the Materials Lab, Mechanical Science Lab and Project Lab. You will provide assistance to lecturers in preparing equipment and resources for teaching and learning, be responsible for maintaining tools and equipment to an efficient level, support/supervise students during practical tasks and carry out risk assessments, ensuring all aspects of health and safety are complied with.

You will need to possess a degree in Mechanical Engineering and have experience with mechanical test equipment e.g. for material testing, fluid mechanics and mechanical principles. You will need to have a good understanding of health and safety requirements and have the ability to communicate and work effectively with young people.
