Team - Underwriting & Claims - Life

Working Pattern - Hybrid / Remote based - 2 days per week in any of the Vitality Offices (Bournemouth, London or Stockport). Home working will also be considered. Full time, 37.5 hours per week.

Key Skills

• Broad experience of underwriting large cases requiring financial & medical underwriting
• Ability to build trusted relationships and influence outcomes effectively
• Able to demonstrate strategic thinking and mentoring ability

Responsibilities

• Underwrite HNW cases in accordance with Vitality's underwriting philosophy and quality standards
• Meet and support brokers to help manage key large cases through the underwriting process
• Liaise with our reinsurers to ensure successful placement of business
• Work with our sales teams to develop bespoke financial underwriting solutions for key clients
• Educate the sales teams on the large case ‘underwriting journey’ and how to navigate this
• Help mentor and develop less experienced underwriters
• Identify how we can improve our HNW underwriting proposition, so that we have the most compelling HNW underwriting proposition in the market

What you need to thrive

• A sound knowledge of the reinsurance and retrocession aspects of this business
• Existing relationships and credibility with advisors who work in this market
• A very high level of credibility and influence with the reinsurance market
• Experience of working closely with and mentoring senior underwriters (ideally including underwriters based at different locations)
• Excellent knowledge of all aspects of financial and medical underwriting
• Strong presentation skills
• Good communicator and influencer/manages conflict well
• Good grasp of Microsoft Office products
