Job summary

KPI Recruiting Ltd is seeking an experienced HLTA for a mainstream secondary school in Coventry. The role is full-time, term-time only, with an immediate or September start.

Salary is £24,000–£28,000 depending on experience, and the post focuses on supporting teaching and learning across the school while promoting student wellbeing and inclusion. The HLTA will lead small-group interventions, provide 1:1 support where needed, and collaborate with teachers to tailor resources for diverse learners.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support for students needing extra academic or pastoral help.
  • Work with staff to adapt resources and ensure lessons are accessible for all learners.
  • Support positive behaviour management and maintain an engaging classroom.

The Role

This is a varied and rewarding position where you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, helping students overcome barriers to learning while promoting confidence, engagement, and academic progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver and support high-quality learning activities across a range of secondary subjects.
  • Lead targeted small-group interventions to raise attainment in literacy, numeracy, and core curriculum areas.
  • Provide tailored 1:1 support for students requiring additional academic or pastoral support.
  • Work alongside teaching staff to adapt learning resources and ensure lessons are accessible for all learners.
  • Support positive behaviour management and help maintain an engaging and productive classroom environment.
  • Assist with lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and the delivery of learning activities.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers to support effective assessment.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, promoting inclusion, high expectations, and positive relationships.
Candidate Requirements

We are looking for outstanding candidates who:

  • Have substantial experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a secondary school setting (essential).
  • Ideally hold HLTA status or have significant senior Teaching Assistant experience.
  • Have a strong understanding of the secondary curriculum and effective classroom support strategies.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, organisation, and behaviour management skills.
  • Are confident leading small-group interventions and supporting whole-class learning.
  • Show initiative, resilience, and a proactive approach to supporting students.
