About the role

We are seeking a HGV Waste Water Operative to join our team to work alongside a United Utilities Customer Support Technician, where you will be required to work on the Bucket 1 reactive contract solving problems on the sewer network.

  • Location: Rochdale
  • Hours: 42.5 hours per week. This role will be on a shift-based pattern with working times of 8am to 6pm front shift and 12pm to 10pm back shift. Weekends and Bank Holidays are included.
  • Salary: £33,326-£37,525 per annum (depending on experience). Overtime rates are offered for weekday, weekend and Bank Holiday work at 1.5x.

Responsibilities - but not limited to
  • You will be working closely with a CST (UU Operative) to clean, camera and carry out sewer investigations as directed by United Utilities.
  • Attending to customers, informing them of works to be carried out and answering any concerns as well as timescales.
  • Inspect drainage systems to identify blockages, leaks, or damage that could hinder water flow.
  • Carry out all aspects of high pressure water jetting.
  • Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean and clear blockages in drains, sewers, pipes, and other wastewater systems.
  • Carry out CCTV inspections where required to assess the condition of underground pipes and sewers.
  • Competent in using an electronic device - laptop / tablet for data entry purposes.
  • Ensuring safety issues are reported in line with company procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance and servicing of high-pressure water jetting equipment to ensure it is in proper working order.
Requirements for the role
  • HGV Class 2 licence (required).
  • Drivers licence is mandatory with no more than 6 penalty points.
Desirable
  • Experience with working with JHL City Flex’s, or training is provided.
  • Experience of High Pressure Jetting would be advantageous – however training would be provided.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Competent in IT, accurate data entry.
  • Team player.
  • Positive, can‑do attitude.
