Job summary

Adams Morey Plymouth is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join our busy workshop team. You will service, maintain and repair a range of commercial vehicles, ensuring work is completed safely and to high standards.

You will contribute to keeping customers' vehicles on the road and support a professional workshop environment. Ideal candidates will have strong knowledge of HGV mechanical systems, a relevant Level 3 qualification, and proven fault-diagnosis skills.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of HGV mechanical systems and maintenance.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
• Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and technical faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Complete vehicle inspections and identify defects or required work.
• Carry out repairs to manufacturer specifications and company standards.
• Ensure work is safe, accurate and within timescales.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and assist with remedial work.
• Complete job cards and paperwork accurately.
• Maintain a clean, safe workshop environment.
• Communicate additional work to relevant team members.

Job description

Adams Morey Plymouth is looking for a skilled and experienced HGV Technician to join our busy workshop team.

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of commercial vehicles, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You will play an important role in keeping our customers' vehicles on the road while delivering excellent workmanship and supporting the smooth running of the workshop.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced HGV Technician to join an established commercial vehicle dealership and develop their skills within a professional and supportive team.

Other duties may be required of the post holder in addition to those listed above and below, to ensure that the requirements of the business are met at all times.

Working hours: · Monday to Friday, Alternating Shifts, i.e. 40 hours per week, 30 minutes lunch break (unpaid), Week 1 – 7.00 am to 3.30 pm, Week 2 – 1.30 pm to 10.00 pm

Salary: OTE £50,000 per annum, dependent on experience, shift, qualifications and breakdown call outs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on a range of HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and technical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
• Complete vehicle inspections and identify any defects or additional work required.
• Carry out repairs in line with manufacturer specifications and company standards.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, accurately and within agreed timescales.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and assist with any required remedial work.
• Complete job cards, inspection sheets and other relevant paperwork accurately.
• Identify and report any additional work required, ensuring it is communicated to the relevant team members.
• Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
• Ensure tools and workshop equipment are used correctly and maintained appropriately.
• Keep up to date with relevant technical information, manufacturer guidance and changes within the industry.
• Work closely with colleagues to ensure an efficient workflow within the workshop.
• Follow all company policies, health and safety procedures and manufacturer requirements.
• Carry out any other duties that may be required to meet the needs of the business.

Ideally, we are looking for:

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician, Commercial Vehicle Technician or in a similar mechanical role.
• Strong knowledge of HGV mechanical systems, maintenance and repair procedures.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
• A relevant Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent.
• Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively.
• A reliable, professional and safety-conscious approach.
• A full UK driving licence would be advantageous, with relevant HGV driving licences also beneficial.
