Job summary

Ford & Slater Norwich is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join on nightshift at our Norwich dealership. You will service and repair a wide range of trucks, perform diagnostics, and ensure work adheres to manufacturer procedures while following company processes.

We welcome applicants with HGV/CV sector experience; an apprenticeship or Level 3 CV maintenance is preferred, and a full UK driving licence is required. Excellent benefits include training, pension and holiday entitlement.

Qualifications

• Experience as HGV, CV, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, or related sector.
• Willing to transfer skills from Light Commercial/Car with training.
• Ideally completed an apprenticeship or training programme.
• Level 3 (C&G, NVQ or equivalent) in CV Maintenance and Repair.
• Excellent knowledge of manufacturer procedures and fault diagnosis.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles.
• Carry out safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOTs.
• Fault Diagnostics and repairs to manufacturer procedures.
• Road test vehicle when required, subject to licence restrictions.

Who are we looking for as an HGV Technician on Nightshift:

• Previous experience working as a Technician / Mechanic within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car or an associated sector.
• If you are a Light Commercial or Car Mechanic who would like to transfer your skills then we can offer you training to become a HGV Technician.
• Ideally have served a recognised apprenticeship or training programme.
• Qualified to Level 3 (C&G, NVQ or equivalent) in Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Excellent technical knowledge ensuring maintenance and repairs are carried out to manufacturer’s procedures.
• Sound knowledge to accurately diagnosis faults.
• Ability to participate in breakdowns.
• Skills to follow company processes for completing all paperwork including accurate completion of job cards and service records.
• Full UK driving licence.

Shift Pattern

• Monday to Friday, 10pm - 6:30am

The HGV Technician role / responsibilities include (but not limited to):

Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles. Carry out safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOT's. Fault Diagnostics. Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures and in a safe and responsible manner. Road test vehicle when required, subject to licence restrictions.
