Job summary

DPD UK is recruiting an experienced HGV Workshop Technician / Mechanic in Hinckley to maintain our fleet of Mercedes Benz tractors and trailers. You will report to the Vehicle Maintenance Unit Manager in a time-critical distribution environment and be responsible for servicing, diagnostics, MOT preparation and repairs.

We require hands-on experience in heavy vehicles, ideally Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time-served status, with knowledge of Mercedes, DAF, Dennis, Volvo and

• As the successful candidate you will have experience in heavy goods vehicle maintenance or heavy plant repairs.
• Ideal candidates will be Level 3 trained in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time served.
• Knowledge of Mercedes, DAF, Dennis, Volvo and Renault trucks is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining DPD’s fleet of approximately 1500 Mercedes Benz tractors and 2700 trailers.
• Diagnostics on vehicles and MOT preparation.
• Weekly and monthly checks of HGV vehicles.
• Mechanical and electrical repairs on vehicles.
• Work in a time-critical distribution environment.

• Salary: circa £50,308 performance related bonus and overtime paid at enhanced rate

Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and highly motivated HGV Workshop Technician / Mechanic to join our team of highly skilled technicians.

As the successful HGV Technician / Mechanic you will report to the Vehicle Maintenance Unit Manager and be a key member of the team. Working in a time critical distribution environment, your key accountabilities will include;

• Servicing and maintaining DPD’s fleet of approximately 1500 Mercedes Benz tractor units and in 2700 trailers.
• Fault Diagnostics on vehicles
• MOT Preparation for the vehicles
• Weekly/ monthly checks of HGV vehicles
• Mechanical and Electrical repairs on vehicles
• Since November 2022 over 60% of our HGV Fleet use Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO)

Qualifications

About You

As the successful candidate you will have had experience working within a similar Heavy Goods or Heavy Plant role, or have knowledge of yellow goods repairs. Ideally you will be Level 3 trained in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or be a time served technician.

You will have knowledge of working on Mercedes, DAF, Dennis, Volvo and Renault vehicles.

You must demonstrate the core values of DPD's DNA – Passion, Respect, Honesty, Flexibility, Caring and Accountability

It would be advantageous if you were irtech licence qualified however this is not essential as we can provide further accreditation for this.

A LGV Class 1 Driving Licence is desirable for this role but not essential.
