Nights HGV Technician - £24/hour
Location: Coalville
Schedule: Monday to Thursday Nights (5:30pm - 5:30am)
Overtime: 1 in 4 Saturdays (paid at 1.5x rate)
Hours: 46 hours per week

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated HGV Technician to join our night shift team in Coalville. You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of our commercial vehicle fleet, ensuring all work exceeds DVSA standards and complies with company procedures. The ideal candidate will have a proactive “can‑do” attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine safety inspections, MOT preparations, servicing, repairs, and defect rectifications on all vehicles and trailers.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults across a range of HGVs.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work completed, including parts used and time taken.
  • Complete all maintenance and repair documentation in a timely and precise manner.
  • Ensure the workshop area is kept clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
  • Work professionally and logically, adhering to all health and safety procedures.
  • Be flexible in approach and a strong team player.
  • Participate in training and development as required.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Fully skilled and qualified HGV Technician through a recognised formal training programme.
  • Experience in inspecting, servicing, diagnosing, and repairing both mechanical and electrical vehicle defects.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work to tight maintenance schedules and meet deadlines.
Desirable Skills
  • Valid C + E Licence.
  • Experience working with Scania, Volvo, DAF, or Mercedes HGVs.
  • Knowledge or experience in hydraulics.
