A leading commercial vehicle service provider in the United Kingdom is seeking a skilled HGV technician to maintain and repair commercial vehicles to MOT standards. The ideal candidate will have a technical qualification or equivalent hands-on experience, alongside a current driving and valid IRTEC licence. Job description
Hours

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, two weeks of 08:00-16:00, and one week of 16:00-00:00, with a 30‑minute paid break per shift.

Role

The HGV technician’s role within TruckEast is to be responsible for maintaining commercial vehicles and trailers to MOT standard.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA standard
  • Diagnose and rectify all types of faults
  • Attend disabled vehicles at the roadside or at customer’s premises
  • Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises
  • Liaise with parts department to attain parts
  • Ensure Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to
  • Ensure appropriate clocking is made, all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness
  • Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses
  • Provide cover on rota system for breakdown cover
Candidate Requirements
  • Technical qualification (City & Guilds level 3 or NVQ qualified technician), or knowledge gained through hands‑on workshop experience
  • Current driving licence
  • Valid IRTEC licence
  • Ability to work within guidelines and to deadlines
  • Ability to work as a team

  • Fork Lift licence (FLT)
  • Main dealer workshop experience
