Job summary

A commercial vehicle service provider located in Peterborough is looking for an HGV technician to maintain and repair commercial vehicles and trailers to MOT standards. The successful candidate must possess a City & Guilds level 3 or NVQ qualification and have excellent customer care skills. Responsibilities include routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, and adherence to Health & Safety regulations. This is a full-time position with specific working hours and a focus on teamwork and skill development.

Qualifications

  • Technical qualification or hands-on workshop experience is required.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations is essential.
  • Experience with Scania products and commercial vehicles is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles and trailers.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults in various vehicles.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the workshop.

Job description

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, alternating by week between 08:00-16:00, and 16:00-00:00, with a 30-minute paid break per shift.

The HGV technician’s role within TruckEast is to be responsible for maintaining commercial vehicles and trailers to MOT standard.

  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA standard
  • Diagnose and rectify all types of faults
  • Attend disabled vehicles at the roadside or at customer’s premises
  • Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises
  • Liaise with parts department to attain parts
  • Ensure Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to
  • Ensure appropriate clocking is made, all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness
  • Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses
  • Provide cover on rota system for breakdown cover
