HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic

Location: Selby
Salary: £46,804 per year

Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm / 8:00am - 6:00pm (alternating shifts) – 48 hrs
Plus 1 in 2 Saturday mornings, 8:00am - 12:00pm

We're looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join the team based in Selby. This is a 1-bay, very long workshop with a pit, brake tester, pit jacks and a wide range of workshop equipment. The site has recently added a fully fitted mobile workshop van to support repairs at nearby satellite sites – shared between all staff depending on workload.

You'll be joining a small, welcoming team that includes two mechanics and a workshop supervisor, working across a mainly Volvo fleet with a good mix of both HGVs and trailers. The work is varied and includes servicing, MOT prep, running repairs, welding, fabrication, and electrical work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out servicing, inspections, MOT preparation, and general repairs on HGVs and trailers
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and refurbishment work to a high standard
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults efficiently
  • Complete all job cards, service sheets, and compliance documentation on tablets through the fleet management system
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, safe working environment
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Fitter, or similar role
  • Strong technical knowledge of HGVs and trailers, including diagnostics, repairs, and MOT preparation
  • Welding and basic fabrication experience
  • A full UK driving licence
