Job summary

A recruitment agency is looking for an HGV Technician in Northampton. The technician will perform repairs and maintenance on heavy goods vehicles, ensuring safety and compliance. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform major and minor repairs to heavy goods vehicles and trailers.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance services.
  • Maintain inventory and cleanliness in the workshop.
  • Assist repair teams with diagnosing and planning repairs.
  • Maintain records of repaired vehicles.
  • Provide emergency repair services to clients.
  • Complete relevant documentation and warranty claims.

As a HGV (Truck) Technician, your role is to keep our client’s customer’s vehicles on the road through quality, safe and compliant maintenance. There’s plenty of overtime opportunities for you too. They are committed to investing in your career and skill set, so when you join our client’s technical team at their Reading fleet workshop, where they maintain Mercedes‑Benz trucks (Daimler Trucks), you will benefit from BPW and LOLER training, as well as online H&S e‑learnings.

Day to day responsibilities
  • Performing major and minor repairs to heavy goods vehicles, trailers and other vehicles.
  • Performing regular inspection and general preventive maintenance services such as tyre rotation and oil changes.
  • Maintaining inventory in the workshop and cleanliness from oil spills and dust.
  • Working with repair teams to help diagnose and plan repairs for the vehicles.
  • Maintaining records of vehicles that have been repaired or handled.
  • Providing repair services to clients on the road in case of emergencies.
  • Completing relevant documentation and paperwork as required and providing warranty claims or escalating them to higher management.

Qualification – You will need to be level 3 (NVQ or City and Guilds or IMI Qualification) in HGV Vehicle Repair and maintenance. You will need the ability to identify worn and faulty components in accordance with the DVSA Standards and have a current, full UK driving licence for the relevant vehicle classes.
