Overview
We’re seeking a skilled HGV Technician (Level 5‑6) to join a dedicated team in Derbyshire. As an HGV Technician, you’ll play a key role in maintaining, inspecting, and repairing a fleet of commercial vehicles to the highest industry standards. This hands‑on position is ideal for an experienced HGV Technician looking for a challenging and rewarding role.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance inspections and repairs as a qualified HGV Technician on all fleet vehicles.
- Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs.
- Plan and complete statutory inspections in consultation with management.
- Conduct brake tests and post‑repair test drives to ensure all vehicles meet roadworthiness standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.
- Record all inspections and repairs accurately, either electronically or manually.
- Occasionally work outside standard hours when operationally required.
Requirements
- Fully qualified HGV Technician (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
- Experience maintaining large commercial fleets.
- Cat C driving licence.
- Experience with specialist hydraulic systems.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Maintenance of refuse collection vehicles.
- Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DQC).
- General welding/fabrication skills.
- Experience with electric‑powered vehicles.
- Strong customer engagement skills.
