Job summary

A leading vehicle repair company based in Leeds is looking for an experienced HGV Technician Chargehand. You will be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance and repairs on various vehicles, diagnosing and rectifying faults, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The role offers flexible shifts and competitive pay ranging from £20.00 to £23.00 per hour, depending on experience. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy and thriving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Attend disabled vehicles at the roadside or at customer’s premises.

Hours of work for the HGV Technician :

Different roles available

HGV Chargehand - Night Shift, 4 Nights a week at 46hrs weekly

HGV Technician Days - 4 on 4 off Days 06 : 00am - 18 : 30pm

HGV Technician Night Shift - 4 nights a week at 46hrs weekly

£20.00 - £23.00ph DOE (Negotiable)

My client, a Commercial Vehicle Repairer, is looking for an experienced HGV Technician and a Chargehand to join their busy and thriving site in Leeds.

Main Duties and Responsibilities for the HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Heavy Goods Vehicle Technician / Mechanic / Technician / Commercial Vehicle Technician / PSV Mechanic / Truck Mechanic / Fleet Engineer / Fleet Maintenance Engineer / LGV Technician / HGV Chargehand / HGV Workshop Foreman :
  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to DVSA standard
  • Diagnose and rectify all types of faults
  • Attend disabled vehicles at the roadside or at customer’s premises
  • Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises
  • Liaise with the parts department to attain relevant parts
  • Ensure health and safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to
  • Ensure appropriate clocking is made, all job cards and
  • service sheets are completed in a timely manner
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness
  • Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses
Requirements for the HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Heavy Goods Vehicle Technician / Mechanic / Technician / Commercial Vehicle Technician / PSV Mechanic / Truck Mechanic / Fleet Engineer / Fleet Maintenance Engineer / LGV Technician / HGV Chargehand / HGV Workshop Foreman :
  • Technical qualification (City and Guilds level 3 or NVQ qualified technician) will consider Time Served
  • Ability to work within guidelines given and to strict deadlines
  • Ability to work under pressure and seek solutions to problems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility to undertake a wide range of tasks
  • Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements
  • Computer literate
  • Current Drivers licence
  • Ability to work as part of a team
