Job summary

A global manufacturing business located near Leyland is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on various vehicles. Candidates should have at least 4 years of relevant experience, hold a Level 3 qualification in Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance, and possess good communication skills. This position offers competitive pay and operates on weekdays only.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience as an HGV/Plant Technician.
  • HGV Class 1 (C&E) Licence preferred.
  • Experience in MOT preparation for tractor units and trailers.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, repairs & MOTs on HGVs.
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical & electrical faults.
  • Liaise with workshop administrator to order vehicle parts.

gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a HGV & Plant Technician to work at their facility based near Leyland.

Performance Objectives
  • Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, repairs & MOTs on HGVs, Trailers, Pool Cars & Other Plant to VOSA standard.
  • Diagnose and rectify all types of mechanical & electrical faults using Texa diagnostic equipment.
  • Dismantle, repair/replace faulty components and test the new ones are working safely.
  • Liaise with HGV workshop administrator to order vehicle parts.
  • Good communication and maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment.
Person Specification
  • 4+ Years of HGV/Plant Technician experience.
  • Apprentice trained and qualified to City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent.
  • Holds valid HGV Class 1 (C&E) Licence (Desirable).
  • MOT Preparation Experience – Tractor Units & Trailers.
  • Previous experience working with HGV’s and Plant, basic welding skills, hydraulic & auto electrical skills.
  • Hardworking and can work well under pressure in a safe and responsible manner.
  • IRTEC Accreditation (Desirable).
  • Loler competence – experience in undertaking loler inspections – LEEA Apply.
