Job summary

Dennis Eagle UK is seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join the Aftermarket team in Bridgwater. You’ll maintain and repair refuse collection vehicles to high standards, ensuring safety, compliance and customer satisfaction on each job.

The role demands strong diagnostic skills, experience with heavy vehicles, and the ability to work independently with flexible hours, including overtime. NVQ Level 3 and relevant qualifications are preferred, with travel to customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance required.
• Experience in commercial vehicle repair and servicing.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills with knowledge of electronics and hydraulics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on chassis and mounted equipment.
• Service vehicles to VOSA standards and prepare them for MOT inspections.
• Complete body and chassis repairs and ensure compliance with DoT specs.
• Maintain accurate records and enter job details into company systems.
• Liaise with customers and work independently at customer sites.
• Ensure all work is completed efficiently and to company standards.
• Follow health and safety procedures and conduct risk assessments.
• Undertake training to enhance technical skills and knowledge.

Job description

Role: HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic

Location: Bridgwater, TA6 5LB

Hours: 45 hours per week | between 06:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday - Looking for flexibility? We offer 40-hour and 26-hour per week options to fit your needs.

Salary: Between £46,425.60 - £48,189.77 pa DOE (based on 45hpw)

Are you a skilled technician with a passion for vehicle maintenance and a commitment to high standards? We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented HGV Technician to join our Aftermarket team!

This hands-on role involves maintaining and repairing refuse collection vehicles to the highest standards, ensuring safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction every step of the way.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on chassis and mounted equipment
• Service vehicles to VOSA standards and prepare them for MOT inspections

• Maintain accurate records and enter job details into company systems
• Liaise professionally with customers and work independently at customer sites
• Ensure all work is completed efficiently and to company standards
• Follow health and safety procedures and conduct risk assessments where required
• Undertake training to enhance technical skills and knowledge

Ideal Candidate:

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance
• Proven experience in commercial vehicle repair and servicing
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Understanding of electronics, hydraulics, and wiring diagrams
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including overtime
• Experience with electric vehicles, IRTEC qualification, or HGV Class 2 licence is a bonus
