Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled servicing, maintenance, MOT preparation and diagnostics on Group fleet.
  • Ensure all vehicles are maintained to a safe and roadworthy standard.
  • Complete all inspection / service / defect paperwork accurately.
  • Keep workshop facilities and tools clean and well maintained.

Location: Aberdeen - Dyce

Hours: Monday - Friday late shift 14:00 - 22:30hrs

Salary: Hourly rate of £20.82 p / h

Overtime: Paid at x1.5 - £31.23 p / h

With a Group ambition to be Net Zero by 2038 we operate a number of alternative fuel vehicles on Bio‑Gas and Battery Electric. In recognition of this approach, we were recently awarded Motor Transport Low Carbon award 2025. With each replacement cycle we are looking to build on the number of alternative fuel vehicles in fleet and will be reliant on our skilled VMU's to support with the uptime and availability of these assets.

Job Description

Our HGV Technicians carry out scheduled servicing, maintenance, MOT preparation and diagnostics on Group fleet in a professional and competent manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • To ensure all vehicles are maintained to a safe and roadworthy standard in line with DVSA & Group requirements.
  • To carry out MOT preparation on Group assets.
  • To ensure that all inspection / service / defect paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • ensure that high quality repairs are carried out in a cost‑effective manner.
  • Keep all workshop facilities, equipment and tools clean, tidy and well maintained.
  • To support central engineering function in identifying failure trends.
  • To keep up to date with developments within the industry and understand changes that may impact the effective operation of the workshop.
  • Organised and methodical approach to problem solving with attention to detail.
  • Undertake manufacturer training courses as required and ensure you follow guidelines.
  • To take ownership of personal development, seeking assistance & guidance from team leaders.
  • To account for your own, be efficient and proactive when working within the workshop.
  • To work as part of the wider team and assist others where needed.
Requirements
  • City and Guilds / NVQ in Heavy Vehicle maintenance or equivalent qualifications.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • A proven background in commercial vehicle repairs.
  • Knowledge of commercial vehicle legislation and roadworthiness standards.
  • C or C+E driving licence is desirable, but not essential.
Benefits
  • Competitive Salary: £20.82 per hour, based on working 40 hours per week plus overtime paid at x1.5 (£31.23 per hour).
  • Hours: 14:30 - 22:30, Monday to Friday, flexible discussion at interview.
  • Overtime available and paid hourly.
  • £10.00 per shift when on standby rota basis.
  • £20.00 call‑out charge per call‑out.
  • £31.23 per hour for any hours worked on call‑out.
