Job summary

A leading engineering company based in Plymouth is seeking a Level 2 HGV Mechanic to support mechanical production activities on naval vessels and in factory settings. This 6-month contract role requires a strong mechanical background, proven experience in maintenance, and knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Candidates must have NVQ Level 2 and the ability to work in high-risk environments. SC Security clearance is required.

Job description

Morson is looking for Level 2 HGV Mechanics to support mechanical production activities across a diverse range of platforms, including surface ships, submarines, and factory-based operations on Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth.

This is a hands‑on role ideal for someone with a strong mechanical background and a passion for precision engineering in a defence or marine environment.

The role

• Assist in the mechanical assembly, maintenance, and repair of components and systems on naval vessels and within factory settings.

Skills & Experience

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a mechanical, heavy engineering or similar sector.
• Proven experience in mechanical fitting, maintenance and production support.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and propulsion systems.
• Strong understanding of health & safety practices in high‑risk environments.

6 months contract initially

Inside IR35

The role requires candidates to obtain and maintain SC Security clearance for this role.
